Visiting Scholars

Dana Amini, Visiting PhD Intern (July 2018 – December 2018)

Research Interests: Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Seismic Site Effects, Wave Propagation in Porous Media, Liquefaction, Programming, Constitutive Laws.

Bio: Dana is a Visiting Student Researchers (VSR) in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Manitoba. He received his M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering (2014) at the University of Tehran in Iran. His research interests are in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, Mechanics of Multiphase Porous Media under static and dynamic loadings, and numerical modeling by using numerical methods especially a coupled BEM/FEM technique.
He is currently doing his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Seismic Site Response in 2D Valleys Filled with Saturated Alluvium by Adapting an Elasto-Plastic Model” as a sabbatical researcher under the supervision of Dr. Maghoul in the SIGLaB. The main objective of this study is to assess the combined effects of topography and sediments on the amplification of ground movements by considering the saturated and plastic behavior of sediments.
